Scaling the Universal Portal Architecture

How we moved from a monolithic bottleneck to a responsive micro-frontend

The decision to rewrite the front-end architecture wasn't made lightly. For years, the legacy system served us well, but as our user base expanded and the complexity of our tools grew—encompassing everything from Organizer workspaces to Community Social feeds—the seams began to show.

In this deep dive, we explore how stripping out the old JS dropdowns and introducing a unified, off-canvas right-side drawer instantly improved the mobile experience. By treating all sidebar partitions as equal players in the accordion hierarchy, we eliminated UX friction that had plagued the system since version 1.0. The new layout utilizes modern CSS variables, drastically reducing maintenance time when deploying new organizational themes.

New Notification System Now Live

A central hub for your alerts, messages, and system updates

Are you tired of hunting through multiple dropdown menus just to figure out what went wrong? With today's deployment, all top-level interactions have been standardized. Now, clicking your profile, checking your messages, or reviewing alerts all summon a unified sliding right-side drawer.

Our comprehensive alert design now natively handles four primary states: Info, Success, Warning, and Error. Each is clearly color-coded, heavily relying on Bootstrap Icons to provide immediate visual context. The days of ambiguous system feedback are finally behind us. Be sure to check out the top right buttons to see it in action.

Q3 Townhall Recap: Milestones and Future Goals

A look back at our record-breaking quarter and what's next for Universal Portal

This past quarter has been nothing short of extraordinary. Thanks to the relentless dedication of our engineering, product, and sales teams, we successfully migrated over 4,000 legacy tenants to the new Universal infrastructure with zero downtime. Customer satisfaction metrics have reached an all-time high, driven largely by the massive improvements in UI response times and workflow clarity.

Looking ahead to Q4, our primary focus will shift toward expanding the Shop storefront features and integrating richer Social communities directly into the core platform. We're also rolling out a comprehensive new permissions layer that will give Admins unprecedented control over workspace access. Stay tuned for the upcoming roadmap webinar where we'll demo these features live.
